Telehealth

Therapy anywhere in Texas.

Amber is licensed across the state, so you can work with her from Houston, El Paso, a small town in the Panhandle, or your own kitchen table in Austin. Same therapist, same approach, no drive.

How it works

What a video session actually involves.

No app to buy, no equipment, and nothing to figure out in advance.

Before

A link, and that's it.

You receive a secure link before each session. It opens in your browser on a phone, tablet, or laptop. No download, no account to create.

Works on any modern device

During

The same fifty minutes.

Telehealth sessions run exactly as in-person ones do. Same length, same work, same directness. For teens especially, being in their own space often makes them talk more, not less.

50 minutes, weekly or biweekly

What you need

A door that closes.

A private spot and a reasonable internet connection. Plenty of clients take sessions from a parked car on a lunch break, and that works fine.

Headphones help

Specialist care shouldn't depend on your zip code.

Certified eating disorder specialists cluster in a handful of Texas metros. Telehealth is how everywhere else gets access to the same training.

Where in Texas.

Anywhere. A Texas license covers clients physically located in Texas at the time of the session, which means the whole state is open — not just the parts near Austin.

  • Central Texas — Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Georgetown, San Marcos, Waco, Killeen, and the Hill Country
  • The major metros — Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio, El Paso, and their suburbs
  • Smaller cities — Lubbock, Amarillo, Midland, Odessa, Abilene, Tyler, Corpus Christi, Beaumont, Laredo, and the Rio Grande Valley
  • Rural Texas — where the nearest specialist can be several hours away, and often is

That last group is the reason this page exists. Much of Texas has a genuine shortage of clinicians with specific training in eating disorders, trauma, or adolescent care. Distance shouldn't decide whether you get someone who has actually done that training.

When telehealth works well, and when it doesn't.

It is not a lesser version of therapy, and the research broadly supports that. But it isn't right for everything, and you should hear that plainly before booking.

It tends to work well for

  • Anxiety, depression, ADHD, and life transitions
  • Trauma work, once stability and pacing are established
  • Teens and young adults, who are frequently more open on video than across a room
  • Anyone whose schedule, health, caregiving, or distance makes a weekly drive unrealistic
  • Ongoing eating disorder support alongside a local physician or dietitian

In-person or a higher level of care is the better call when

  • An eating disorder needs medical monitoring that has to happen in a room
  • There is active risk to your safety that needs closer support than weekly video
  • Younger children need play-based work that depends on physical presence
  • You simply have nowhere private, which matters more than people expect

Cost and insurance.

Telehealth sessions are billed the same as in-person: $160 self-pay, with a limited sliding scale on application. Amber is in network with eight major plans, and Texas plans generally cover telehealth behavioral health comparably to in-person care — though the specifics always come down to your individual plan.

Privacy

Sessions run on a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform — not consumer video chat. What's said in a video session carries the same confidentiality protections as a session in the office, described in full in our Notice of Privacy Practices.

Not sure it'll feel the same on a screen?

That's a fair thing to wonder, and fifteen free minutes on video will answer it better than anything written here. If it doesn't feel right, you've lost a quarter of an hour.
